Parachute First Aid Packet (zippered)
Known as the Parachute First Aid Packet, this small kit was issued to Airmen along with their parachute and contained basic supplies to treat wounds incurred during descent or landing. The first pattern pouch consisted of an olive drab rubberized canvas pouch closed by a zipper. Two web tapes facilitated attachment to the right lift web of the parachute harness, opposite the ripcord. The later version employed a hermetically sealed design which could be torn open in an emergency (also available here). These incredibly rare first pattern pouch has been faithfully copied in every detail.
The unique waterproofed canvas has been painstakingly recreated - just like the originals, it takes on the characteristic olive drab shade from the unique waterproof impregnation. The pouch is closed with the correct nickel zipper, and the new run features a Talon slider. All stitching is with cotton thread. Four khaki web tapes allow for attachment to the parachute harness, and are complete with the sealed ends. The pouch is complete with the characteristic bold “FIRST AID” lettering on both the sides. These are the very same pouches you'll see in the "Masters of the Air" miniseries - we built them!
