The aviator kit bag was first adopted in July 1928 for carrying your parachute. During WWII, they were also issued out with the T-5 parachute as a means of protecting the valuable parachutes. They were large enough to easily fit the complete main and reserve parachute with room to spare.
Kit bags are often copied, but rarely replicated. Nearly every other cheap repro (and even some pricey ones) uses coarse weave canvas, fantasy leather pulls, sleazy webbing, or polyester zippers or some other nonsense. Our authentic reproductions feature every detail carefully copied. The kit bag starts with our custom dyed aeronautical canvas - medium weight and tightly woven. Over a year in development, the zippers are 100% cotton, 4-panel HBT weave, extra wide WWII pattern tape, with smooth action nickel plated teeth. The zipper pull also features a custom Talon slider in the iconic bell style. All raw edges are trimmed with custom woven smooth weave HBT tape, and the center flap securely snaps with Genuine USA Scovill fasteners. Each pocket is double stitched and squared off, without rounding the corners. The zipper is sealed with an internal zipper flap, just like the originals. Original shuttle loomed name tape on the exterior and custom woven handles.
