The classic QAC parachute harness issued to USAAF bomber crews in 1944-1945
Harness only, flying jacket & chest pack shown for illustration.
Includes Instructional Manual
MADE IN USA
The A-3 featured risers folded across the shoulder with attachment hooks at the chest. When the parachute deployed, the force of the opening shock broke the tacking, releasing the risers and bringing the empty pack several feet above the user’s head. The A-3 suspended the wearer from the shoulders and was a much safer design over earlier models. In May 1944, harnesses began to be marked yellow to indicate the hardware combination, but many were never marked. The A-3 saw widespread issue in the ETO in 1944 and served until the end of the war.

Nearly 90 feet of custom woven webbing is painstakingly interlaced and layered (8 layers at points!) to form the harness element. An actual harness machine from the war creates authentic 7-class stitching with mil-spec ultra heavy 100% cotton thread. Custom steel fittings from the original blueprints ensure that every "click" of the buckles are an authentic sound straight from 1943. It even includes all 10 hand stitch tackings securing the full length risers in place. The back pad is built with our custom dyed "Aircorps Drab" tight weave canvas and genuine USA Scovill fasteners. Custom smooth weave HBT webs have the proper anti-fray end coatings - no detail is overlooked. Complete with all the part, date, and manufacturer, and inspection markings, hand stamped just like originals. New 2024 run includes the hip rings for life raft attachment (Feb. 1944 T.O.) as standard.
Sizing: These comfortably fit up to about 6'3" and 220 pounds. We recommend noting your height/weight in the order notes so that we can hand tack the risers to the proper size. (late war yellow markings also available upon request)
