Escape & Evasion Kit
Originally developed by the highly-secretive MI9, escape and evasion kits (E&E) were one of the most prized items issued to paratroopers. Christopher Hutton came up with the first escape kits in the Spring of 1940. During the war the most widespread issue pouch was the Red France kit. In addition, a special "Maps Only" pouch was procured specifically for the Normandy D-day invasion. Both styles were widely issued to both USAAF crews and paratroopers.
