Seat Packs

Perhaps the most iconic of vintage parachutes, the seat type was one of the most versatile and widely used parachutes of the era. Designed with the pilot sitting on the parachute pack, it allowed flyers to easily flex in their seats and enjoy greater visibility in all directions. Adopted in 1928, the S-1 seat parachutes are identified by the early style bayonet harness fasteners. Beginning in 1941, the AN-6510 with the snap hook/V-ring harness joined the ranks. Both the S and AN styles were used throughout the war. Due to huge surplus stocks of seat parachutes during the war, this type was widely issued to fighter pilots as well as on training flights.

Built with our custom woven harness webbing and 7-class stitching, this is a faithful reproduction of the classic fighter pilot seat parachute.  The harness has full length risers and includes  the hand sewn rigger tacks throughout the harness just like originals.  Built with our new custom dyed "Aircorps Drab" canvas, the pack tray is complete with all the  swaged steel wire frame,  5 phenolic stiffeners, and all the detailed flaps, loops, and reinforcements. The back pad and seat cushion feature our comfortable custom cut, period-style padding and genuine Scoville fasteners.    The assembly is complete with all part, date, and manufacturer stamps.  A beautiful replica of this classic parachute.

(The S-1 style with early bayonet twist/turn fittings can be ordered upon request)
