T-5 FSSF (Solid White)
In late 1942 a number of solid white T-5 parachutes were manufactured for test purposes on specifications from Wright Field. Everything was undyed, from the harness webbing black tracer to the thread and binding tape of the pack tray. All harness hardware was cadmium plated, and packs were manufactured with nickel grommets. Purple markings were hidden in inconspicuous places.
Some of these were used by the experimental arctic airborne unit, Company B, 503rd Parachute Infantry Battalion. However, they are most well-known for their relation to the First Special Service Force. Approximately 100 of these chutes were sent to the The Force for Operation Kiska.
